The Viaduct Courtyard is a quadrangle in Hogwarts Castle. A covered stone cloister with an open colonnade runs around it, and two checkpoint towers flank its entryway via the Viaduct {Starting in 2.0}. There is a stone pathway leading from this courtyard into The Quad, and into the balcony that sits in front of the Viaduct Entrance. The courtyard is partially paved, in a cross pattern, with gravel surrounding it. {Starting in 2.0}
History[]
Before 1891[]
The courtyard is pushed out more, whilst retaining its design from the Half Blood Prince film adaptation
1900-1940?[]
The viaduct courtyard can be seen possibly during the 1920 and the 1930s. This would later be replaced by the Chamber of Reception sometime before 1943. However, this may be canonically unlikely.
1994[]
The Viaduct Courtyard is created, replacing the Chamber of Reception that was once there previously.
1997[]
On 1 September, 1997, Hogwarts students marched through this Courtyard under the supervision of Death Eaters Alecto and Amycus Carrow and Headmaster Severus Snape as they were led into the Castle.
1998[]
The Viaduct Courtyard is at its largest size yet
The Battle of Hogwarts[]
During the Battle of Hogwarts, the courtyard was heavily damaged.
2015[]
On October 19th 2015, Christopher broke up with Katherine Green in this courtyard. When he died later that night, the crowd was led to this courtyard as well to mourn the fallen hero.
Behind the Scenes[]
- The current model of the Viaduct Courtyard is actually a derivative from prof_artifex's map. However, with the use of structure blocks and screen shots, it took a total of nearly six hours, which includes demolishing the older incarnation.
- The previous model by Mr. Kaspersson is a much smaller courtyard, fully paved with benches sitting along the perimeter. Also, Filch's office was connected directly to one edge of the courtyard.
- Interestingly, as the snapshots kept releasing for Release 2.0, the courtyard's size keeps enlarging until it hits its largest point in Snapshot Y19W15a. This can also be seen in the Harry Potter films.
